• Jeffrey Pospis, MA, LPC, LCADC

I am a psychotherapist with 7 years experience working adults, families, couples, and adolescents.  My educational background includes a Bachelors of Arts in Psychology from University of Delaware and a Masters of Arts in Counseling from Montclair State University.  My professional credentials include Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LCADC).  My experiences in the mental health and substance use fields, in which I have 18 years total experience to present, have led me to this place in my career as a clinician.  I welcome the opportunity to provide therapy for individuals from diverse backgrounds.  I also have extensive knowledge of how substance use can impact mental health.  Through my cumulative experiences, I understand how important it is to recognize the context and impact that daily circumstances and stressors have on your life.

My clinical approach is person-centered by design, and includes a mix of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused Brief Therapy, and Narrative Therapy.   I will help you to make sense of these daily struggles and the connection to life transitions and daily stressors.  These could include work, relationship, parenting, trauma, or anger issues.  Through the psychotherapeutic process, I will help you to focus on what is most important and meaningful to you.  I believe in your ability to come up with your own solutions, through reflecting on thoughts and emotions that influence your current decision-making processes and actions.  This is a process that unfolds over time and involves gaining a full understanding of how your past and present life events and stressors have contributed to your current functioning.  Your input and insight are the most valuable resources.  I will listen to your current concerns with a non-judgmental attitude and an open mind, and provide feedback only as needed to help you manage and hopefully resolve the issues that brought you to therapy.  I will check in with you throughout the therapy process to make sure you are receiving the most support possible and benefitting from our time together.

I consider myself privileged to have the opportunity to be invited into people’s lives and provide therapeutic support.  I am hopeful that our respective experiences will create a dynamic relationship that empowers you and helps you to feel more capable of handling life’s challenges.  I look forward to hearing from you.
