I am here to help you help yourself! We each have the power to manage and save ourselves, sometimes we just need a new perspective and/or some tools. As a therapist, I foster a nonjudgemental zone to express and explore parts of oneself that is essential in healing and guiding you to the goals YOU want to set.
With an educational background in psychology, pre-health, and mental health counseling, I apply a multidimensional analysis to understand each person’s needs and recommended interventions. With extensive experience providing services to children and adolescents in various modalities, I am fond of meeting youth where they are and supporting them along their development pertinent to their goals. I have field experience in crisis counseling imperative following traumatic events and pertinent crisis interventions. I also have experience counseling in criminal justice settings if legally applicable.
I strive to be flexible in methodologies and therapeutic techniques according to what each person needs. My theoretical approaches are rooted in Individualistic, Humanistic, and Cognitive Constructivism, with applications from Psychodynamic and Solution-Focused therapies. This means I prefer to see each person as an accumulation of their characteristics, values, and experiences, while holding the potential to become their ideal and convalescent selves. With an understanding that how we think emanates how we perceive and interact with the world, understanding each person’s constructed symbolic interactionism can be therapeutic. Meanwhile, delving into one’s subconscious thoughts, early development experiences, and attachment patterns can be essential in emotion regulation and social skills training.
I believe that not every therapist fits each person as we all have different needs, but I aim to use whatever skillset necessary and be honest if supplemental or additional services are recommended. Trauma-informed care is vital when approaching each person’s experiences and perceptions as we work to mend the inner-self. Using tools of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to reframe maladaptive thought patterns and cognitive distortions can be eye-opening. Likewise, Dialectical Behavior Therapy emphasizes radical acceptance while we work on mindfulness, grounding techniques, emotional regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal skills. Internal Family Systems can be used to understand oneself from various sociocultural and emotional roles revolving around the healing self. Somatic Therapy and bimodal stimulation is used to incorporate the physiology within the cognitive-emotional process – whether learning to use the body to ground oneself or understanding trauma stored in the body. Providing services with these and additional modalities, my objective is to help each person reach their own goals!
I approach each person with an open mind and at the pace they need. If there is a specific technique or intervention preferred, please feel free to discuss as we set out on this journey together!
